How I style my outfits can vary, sometimes I start with one piece and build up from there and today’s look is all based around this amazing statement necklace which was sent to me by new accessories label Adorn.  I literally built up the entire outfit around this necklace, sometimes all I need is a statement piece to inspire me for the look.  The necklace, named ‘Lady Venus’ has got some bling in there, some bold acid brights and some tortoiseshell so is a great mixture of textures and colours.  I kept all other accessories minimal and used my new Fearne Cotton for Very shoes to pick up on the bold colours.

Mind The Marant

Isabel Marant is famous for teaming delicate lace dresses with contrasting black blazers and western themed boots and today’s look is an adaptation of that style.  The dress is from ASOS and was purchased as part of my Holiday wardrobe but like with all new additions to my collection I become impatient and want to wear them NOW.  It’s a pretty easy to look to achieve and I’m sure you probably have the basic pieces already existing in your wardrobe.

This is the blazer I was gifted from the event I went to the other week, it’s by their own brand ‘Love Label’.  It does also have coordinating shorts (see in last night’s post) to go with it which is what I was snapped in at the event for the Lookbook but they are just a little too short for me so instead I took a pair of Fearne Cotton for Very shoes away with me.  I love the over-sized shape of this blazer, it’s a great length too and perfect for just throwing over a simple tee and pair of jeans for my go-to everyday look.

Very VIP Event

Last week I was invited to the #VeryVIP event to check out the newest pieces in their collection.  I had the chance to style up an outfit for their Lookbook and this is the outfit I wore above.  The blazer and coordinating shorts are great for summer, really chic and a different take on wearing shorts for this season, the simple burnt out tee (which comes as a 2pk) was just to keep the top neutral so THE shoes could do the talking.  The shoes are from the Fearne Cotton for Very range and they are immense!  I was lucky enough to take both the blazer and the shoes home with me so watch out for those appearing in my outfit posts over the next few days 🙂  Check out some of my other pictures from the event below.

Lacura CC Cream

We had the BB creams and now it’s the turn of the CC creams.  Colour Correction creams are hitting down big now with almost all cosmetic brands and I’ve been sent this Lacura (Aldi beauty) one to try out.  This comes in only one shade, which should be suitable for all skin tones, I can’t vouch for this because I’ve only tried it out on myself.  As you can see from the pictures below when first applied it does look considerably darker than my own skin but it was surprising how much it blended in and adjusted to my own skin tone.  It does provide pretty good coverage and hides small blemishes, similar to that of a foundation.  It’s not as light as a BB cream, but as the coverage is so good I wouldn’t expect it to be.  Once applied it does leave a radiant complexion (with a slightly matte finish) and could be mixed with their Shimmering Day Cream (see in this post) for a lighter and more dewy look.  It does have UVA/UVB protection with SPF 15 which is great for day to day wear.  Available in Aldi stores now, priced at £4.99 (50ml).

Say Cheese!

Despite the freezing cold temperatures it is still spring, therefore one must expose skin…it’s a rule y’know!  Ok so it’s not a lot of skin but a midriff is better than nowt!  I have been complaining about the consistent trend of crop tops and being in my late 20’s I worried that the trend wasn’t for me but if Anna Dello Russo can ware a crop top, then I’m bloody well going for it too.

Collection Bronze Glow Mosaic

It’s that time of year again when we whip out the bronzer with full force!  I’ve got this Collection Bronze Glow Mosaic bronzer (£2.99) to try out in shade ‘1 Sunkissed’.  It does also come in ‘Radiant’ and non-mosaic matte and shimmer versions.  I have had Collection bronzers in the past and I must admit I have always been a fan and used them until they have met their crumbly death in a make-up bag (don’t you hate it when that happens!).  So obviously being a mosaic it’s made up of several different shades/tones of shimmering powder which is great for highlighting/contouring cheekbones and the jawline.  You do need to be quite minimal with this powder as eve the smallest amount gives a noticeable glow, so start with a dab and build it up if you want more.  I wouldn’t recommend using it all over the face as it is very shimmery, but bronzer should technically only be used to highlight and contour certain areas anyway.
