Summer Staples

My last look in collaboration with George at Asda is just a laid back, everyday summer outfit.  It’s very simple but the printed culottes speak for themselves and add some detail to the look.  Culottes have been the ultimate summer staple this season and the good news is they’re hear to stay for AW14 too.  Obviously if you’re not much of a heels-wearer then you could substitute those for some flat sandals but you know me and my heels!  I hope I’ve opened your eyes to the world of George this week as there are some great pieces in their collections and next season looks equally as promising.

Summer In The City

I don’t think I’ll be the only Londoner to be moaning about the heat right now.  Friday was an absolute sweaty wash-out for me.  I went to Shoreditch to the Ace Hotel for an awards brunch with Asos Fashion Finder and Urban Outfitters.  The temperature got up to something crazy like 34 degrees, and normally I’d be enjoying the heat, but when your in London it’s not so enjoyable, especially when it comes to our public transport (always crammed under someone’s sweaty armpit…vom!).  I wore this cute new season coord from New Look as I knew it would keep me as cool as I could get because of the lightweight fabric.  It’s fair to say I lost the jacket half way through the day as the heat was just too much.  In the evening I was treated (By Claires Accessories) to an amazing open air concert to watch Sam Smith perform in the courtyard at Somerset House.  Again this was the perfect casual outfit for a gig!

Juiced

Here’s the final look from the summer floral lookbook video I posted earlier this week.  If you haven’t checked out the vid yet then click here or watch below.  I’ve always loved bold trousers like these, the girls I used to work with used to tease me about my love of a printed trouser as I had such a huge collection.  They’re easy to wear, everything on top just needs to be kept relatively simple.  The best thing about this particular pair is that they comfy, almost like a thinner, jazzier version of a pair of joggers.

So Fancy

I have some amazing news today!  I was nominated for an ASOS Fashion Finder Award a few weeks back and yesterday I found out that I won!!!  The award I was up for was for ‘Working the Trends’ and I’m so honored to be selected as the winner as I do love my trends 🙂  Check out the other award winners and runners-up here on the Fashion Finder website.  This is my first award as a blogger and after almost 6 years of blogging it really is a pleasure to receive.  I’m not all about awards, I love to see tweets, emails, comments etc from you  guys hearing that you enjoy my blog and that makes all the hard work worth while…but this is a welcome treat for me 🙂

21st Century Marilyn

Hello Monday, I’m glad to see you, I’ve had a pretty action packed weekend!  On Saturday I was sent to the East Coat Live Festival in Ipswich courtesy of F+F Clothing and BlinkBox Music.  Some of you might have seen the odd picture on Instagram but I wasn’t able to upload as much as I wanted because there was zero 4G signal there.  Why is that when you go to a big event like that, and even at Fashion Week, the main area becomes a huge mobile signal black hole?!  Tres annoying!  Anyway I’ll be doing a full post on all those shenanigans tomorrow.  In the mean time I’ll leave you with today’s outfit which is exactly what the titles says, a 21st century Marilyn.

Pastel Agenda

Well with all this glorious weather we’re having here in London it’d be rude not to rock a pastel shade or two.  One huge trend this season was pastel coloured leather (or ‘pleather’ in this case), and this pale blue biker screamed ‘buy me’ when I spotted it in Miss Selfridge the other day.  I’ve teamed it with these gorgeous nude culottes (Dorothy Perkins) and some black leather accessories.  As you can tell the ‘Boy’ is my new favourite bag, apologies if it just so happens to make a cameo in every single outfit…ever!

Vertical

I‘ve always been a lover of a wide-leg trouser, there’s just something slightly casual-but-not about them.  These bold striped numbers are from Zara (£19.99) and are made from a pretty lightweight imitation silk fabric, rendering them perfect for summer.  Be warned though if you’re, ummmm….vertically challenged, as they are inhumanly long!  I’m not sure what height people Zara cater for, but clearly it’s on the giant variety (And I’m tall but not that tall!).  You could also try these H&M alternatives for £14.99 (well known for a shorter leg length!).
